The Last Song

This probably is one of my favorite moments during my last days at school. My friend brought a guitar to school and we all just started singing along. It was a nice feeling shrouded by sadness of the final day. And you can feel their emotions as they sing this final tune.

The song is Stay by Estrella. To be frank, I am very uneducated in the local music scene. My knowledge is limited to Siti Nuhaliza and Jaclyn Victor (Malaysian singers). This song has a jazzy groove to it and it has been stuck in my head ever since.

Sound straight from the twilight
Has me up all night
I can't fall asleep 'cause I keep thinking of you
And I saw a shadow outside my window and it's you.

[Chorus]
All my sorrows flew away
Hush, keep quiet, hear me say
I don't ever want you to go
Please stay
With the moonlight dancing free
And there's no one but you and me
There's no reason to go astray
Please stay.

Making up a story
It's the way you're looking at me
If you think that this is funny, it's just you.

Try and think about it,
If you're heart is closed don't lock it,
Keep your keys back in your pocket,
Think this through.

Please stay with me
Just stay with me
and I will take you to Foreverland
Just stay

Last Day of High School

Finally that day has come where we all would say our final goodbye. The next "last" time we would meet would be in the exam halls. These two years have gone by so fast and it has been such a blast. Personally I do have my own set of complains and dissatisfaction but who cares about that when we could hold on to the good stuff. (Lol....I sound like Oprah)

Now just let the pictures do the talking.

Lotus in the Garden

The lotus in the garden just bloomed lately! Normally it would be there for just a few days only. So I have to prevent myself from procrastinating or else I'll miss it altogether.

Here's a look at it.

I really love how they bloom. The gradient hues on the leaves are also really eye catching. Shoots, I should go out of the house more. I feel like I'm missing out on so much.

Bouquets Around the House

My mom loves gardening and it comes bundled in with the love of flowers too. So she loves to decorate the interior of the house with LOTs of flowers which she personally picked out and arranged by herself.

People who visit my house would have to agree that she has taste! She's really good at it and can make a business out of it if she ever had the opportunity. I guess that's where I got my "creative" side from.

Its funny how I only noticed these things after living in the house for so many year. Heck, I only realised that the walls in my family hall are green this year.

Brisingr

I finally got the book Brisingr that I've been try to buy after several failed attempts . Got it at Borders for 20% discount thanks to another blogger's tip xP (Thanks Alice!)

I really have to comment about the really good service I got at Borders. Apparently, I did not read the fine print of the "discount". The discount would only be available with the purchase of any other product.

When the cashier told me that, I was so ready to put the book back on the shelf. I thought that I had to buy another book to get the discount. She piped in that I could buy a small pack of sweets which cost only 50 cents.

So yeah, go to Borders!

Frankly I would not be surprised if there would be a movie made one day as a tribute to this awesome bookshop. Hmm...I wonder what it would be like xP

HAhha.....however I would be putting the book aside until my exams finish. One month to go until total temporary freedom!

A Home for the Rejected

It all started with one woman's compassion for animals. She started off working at SPCA, taking care of animal. However, to her horror she discovered that many animals had to be put to 'sleep' because the centre simply does not have enough funds to support the ever growing community of rescued animals.

She quit and started her own project called the Furry Friends Farm where she would be free to take care of the animals (mainly dogs I think) without sending them away to dreamland.

Recently (ok, maybe a few months back), I had the honor of meeting this lady, Sabrina Yeap. It was part of an activity organised by a club that I joined. Listening to her story first hand was truly inspiring. She actually conducts tuition to support the dogs!

Photobucket

At a glance, she looks like a really simple woman who would most probably be shy. But my, never judge a book by its cover. The moment she started speaking I was really impressed by the way she spoke to us. She had some sort of commanding presence. Her English got British slang somemore!

Photobucket
Here's a picture of one of the students getting up close and personal with one of the dogs.

Photobucket
This guy here, Salehin is one of the Doctor Dog owners. He adopted this dog from Furry Friends Farm. Now who says Malays can't touch dogs!

What is Doctor Dog you may ask? Its actually something where these dogs are tested for their friendliness. If the friendly-o-meter rises to a certain level they get the title! This dog is one of the few Doctor Dogs in the world.

Technically Doctor Dogs are therapy dogs where they would visit hospitals, homes and et cetera to bring joy and happiness to all mankind. They are trained to play the cute factor to the extreme maximum like cuddling up next to you.

Now, here are the pictures of the other dogs. All of them were either abandoned or rescues from abusive owners. You know what. I'm not going to shrink the shots this time to fit your browser.

Look into their eyes!

Cooking for a Multitude

Recently, my church a had a pot luck! I really enjoy this kind of dining because you get to enjoy all kind of food brought by various families. There was so much food I had to go two rounds to sample a little of everything not including dessert.

I decided to contribute this time instead of just being the guy eating all the food. After some careful thinking I decided to cook up some spaghetti carbonara. There were lots of good feedback and its really nice to hear that people enjoy your food.

What they DON'T know that this spaghetti packs one heck of a punch in terms of calories. Here's the recipe:

7 packs of spaghetti
5 packs of bacon

Sauce:
2 boxes of whipping cream (Nope its not low fat)
21 egg yolks
3 packs of grated parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon of salt
1 tablespoon of pepper

Egg Mania!!!

Everyone loves honey roasted bacon (well....almost xP)

The spaghetti cooking started off a little rough. I tried cooking 6 packs of spaghetti in one pot, and found out how much they expand. *knocks head on the wall* I had to take out all the half cooked spaghetti and cook them slowly little by little.

Making the sauce was easy. It was just the matter of mixing everything together. And viola! You have tons of creamy goodness a.k.a. spaghetti carbonara.

However, here's the part I really hate about cooking.

American Politics is AWESOME

Ok, I'm not a big fan of politics mostly because there's so many things that goes on besides the curtain you don't really know who to trust. However, I find the current American Elections really interesting. You know why?

TV make fun of them and they do nothing about it! Take these for example:

Favourite quotes:
I had 15 false alarms where I saw Osama bin Laden driving a taxi. I was embarrassed that I was wrong but mostly dissapointed that I wasn't right.

Katie Couric: You visited the UN for the first time. How was the experience?
Sarah Palin: It was just amazing, so many interesting people. However I was
dissapointed that there were so many foreigners there......

I've always been a big fan of Tina Fey. Her kind of comedy really appeals to me contrary to the usual slapstick. I watched her on 30 Rock and I was HOOKED! She is way funny =) Things like these really help keep me on the sunny side of life.

Hmmm.....I wonder if such parodies exist in Malaysia.

*And it was a plus that Tina Fey looks EXACTLY like Sarah Palin. Separated from birth?

We're one month away from the exam that will pretty much determine the rest of our lives. Tension in class is so thick, you can feel the stress evaporating into the air. Everyone including me is slugging lifelessly for those precious alphabets on a small piece of paper.

I can't wait for all of this to end.
