Redang Island Trip: The Beginning

Just came back from the Redang Island trip and I had an amazing time. It was much more than a good holiday because I really enjoyed the company of people who came along. We've had a good run for the past two years and it was a very nice way to sort of sum it all up. The beach was so beautiful with the clear water and fine sand. I could stay there all week if it wasn't for Speech Day. Did I mentioned how clear the water was? I always think about Port Dickson when the talk of Malaysian beaches come along. Redang beaches are just so clear you can see right through it. Perfect place to just laze around and just chill.

We left school at about 10 am to catch our noon flight at LCCT. Got to have some Old Town nasi lemak again after such a long time. Nasi lemak will always be my all time favourite comfort food. I've probably mentioned that it taste like home.

Pancakes

One of the weekends I decided to make some pancakes while I was home. All you need is the Pancake-in-a-flash bottle and some water. I'm lazy. I know. All you do is add water to the bottle, shake it and pour it into the frying pan. Then you eat it. No. You put a slab of butter on it and drizzle honey all over it. THEN you eat it.

By the way, the whole round shape pancake on the cover thing is a lie. A lie!! Maybe I'm just pouring it in all wrong but that's highly unlikely because well, how many variations of 'pouring' are there? The ends tend to splutter causing the pancake to loose the perfect round shape. But somehow this imperfection makes it taste even better. The ends are really crispy so there is this really nice soft pancake with a crunch on the side. Addictive!

Jogoya Japanese Buffet @ Starhill Gallery KL

jogoya-starhill-gallery-japanese-buffet

We Upper 6 students decided to have one big dinner a few weeks before the exam starts; packing on all the comfort food before the two month long torture begins. About thirty of us headed down to Jogoya for a feast. I've heard loads about this Japanese buffet restaurant so I was quite excited to try it out.

The price tag was quite hefty with about Rm 90 per person. The bill came to about an epic Rm 3500, which I still keep in my wallet for sentimental value. So I expected the food to be nothing short of brilliant! I ended up not taking many pictures because I was too busy eating. Being kiasu Asians we went in when the restaurant opened at 5 pm and left when the dinner session is over at 9.30 pm.

The interior of the restaurant is spacious but designed in such a way that you feel like you still have your personal space. We were allocated a private dining area, which I thought was wise considering the amount of noise we made later that night.

I've really done all I could. So now the rest is up to God.

Please God, I really want to go to university.

El Cerdo @ Changkat Bukit Bintang

el-cerdo-changkat-bukit-bintang-pork

El Cerdo is definitely one of my favourite places to visit when I'm craving for pork. A family friend recommended this restaurant a while back and we've visited this place a few times for special occasions. The price is pretty steep but the food is so worth it! Its not hard to find this place, you'll find it located smack in the middle of Changkat Bukit Bintang. Look out for the restaurant with all the decorative pork ornaments. My favourite is the one I call the "Porky Lisa", a spoof painting of its human counterpart.

KTJ Prom 2011

ktj-school-prom-night

This year prom was at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel. I thought that it went well and I had an enjoyable evening. What matter was that all my friends were there, minus the ones that have exams. (We missed you!) Good job to the people who managed to pull it off organising the event. Everybody just seemed to be particularly obsessed with taking photographs that night. Good company and food, what's more to ask for?

Preparations for Prom

prom-photograph-ktj

That time of the year is upon us again, that one night where everyone dresses up to look their best. I always find the build up to prom fascinating to observe; from people chatting with excitement about what they're wearing to the hunt for prom dates. It's a rite of passage that KTJ students get to go through three times!

Here are some photographs I took of the gang getting ready.

Satay Celup Ban Lee Siang @ Melaka

Oh joy! Satay celup is Melaka's gift to mankind. I've only had satay celup twice and I'm wondering, why have I only eaten this twice?! I find it amazing how you can still want to eat it after fifty sticks considering that the thing basically has only one flavour. Its that good.

Authentic Nasi Lemak @ Jin Hoe Cafe, Penang

Nasi Lemak is one of my favourite things to eat for breakfast. Normally there would be a packet waiting on the table every other Saturday thanks to mom and dad. There is something about the texture of the santan infused rice with sambal that feels so comforting. To me nasi lemak tastes like home.

Details

Look closely. You'll find tiny little clues and hints all over the place;
small pieces of a puzzle that is part of a much more elaborate story.

Foh San Dim Sum @ Ipoh

dim-sum-foh-san-ipoh

Foh San is one of those places that have become a must stop when the family passes by Ipoh. Its either here or the other dim sum place, Ming Court. I personally really enjoy eating dim sum because it comes in little bite size pieces and you always have a huge selection of food to choose from. That's my idea of a good breakfast.
