Wandering souls
and whenever you're about to fall apart
sing the songs we used to be
and whenever you want to fix your heart
remember us and these loud noises
- Loud Noises, Yuna
Yes, I have reached that point in revision when you start quoting song lyrics.

Referencing. One of the few things I've learnt so far in medical school.
The other day I saw a status a friend posted on Facebook and he was saying something about having low blood pressure. That bit of information triggered my brain into overdrive and for the next ten seconds or so I thought about metabolic processes, cardiac physiology, what sort of drugs he should be using, etc.
Realised what I was doing and stopped immediately. I have no idea whether to be impressed or scared. Can't wait to go back home and start telling people what sort of drugs they should be taking.

Amore Dogs @ Hanover Street, Edinburgh
A few friends visited Edinburgh a few weeks ago. We hardly get visitors up here being outside the bubble which is London where the whole world seem to revolve around. I like having visitors because these are the rare occasions when I allow myself to splurge on eating outside and take the chance to try out those restaurants I've walked by many times.

Edinburgh at night
On my last birthday some of my friends got me this night photography course. I did have quite a but of fun despite the class being meant for people who are just starting out with photography. They were all very keen with their huge tripods, which made me feel slightly inadequate. I've never been a fan of tripods because I find it too impractical to assemble and dissemble. But that was what I did when starting out so I guess everyone goes through the 'tripod' phase.
In the end, I actually spent most of my time chatting with the guy running the course, who studied photography and being in the business for more than twenty year he has quite a few stories to tell. He once met Steve McCurry, which I thought was such an incredible opportunity. The Afghan Girl is probably the most recognisable photograph in the world.

Pretzels y u taste so good?!
Finishes two 120 calories bag of chips. Finds out later that measurements are actually per serving. There are eight servings per bag. Amount eaten is equivalent to calories burnt after running a half marathon. #toughrevisiontimes #firstworldproblems

Easter
This Easter break could not have been more timely. Get to really concentrate on doing some work. My flat mate's mom sent over a whole bunch of chocolates and a few packs have ended up in my room. So I am all sorted out in term of stress food, though I am determined to make it last till the end of exams. Do bear with me for the next few weeks.

We Are Young
About a week ago, the weather in Edinburgh was perfect. The sun was out the entire week and temperature peaked past twenty degrees. Everyone was out basking in the sun, enjoying the longer daylight with barbeque, beers and good company. Last week the weather was back to normal though and we had snow. So bizarre. You can experience all four seasons in the span of walking from your house to Tesco. I kid you not.
These are photos of a barbeque session with some friends. I wish I get light like this more often. It gives everything a nice golden glow.

Silk
Some shots from my new job! Better pay, shorter hours, and closer to where I live. Can't wait for summer to come. Exams are about five weeks ahead so I'm really going crazy with trying to cover all the material. It's expected from my course. I just have to get into the whole rhythm going and I'll be fine.
Then it's on to Europe baby; the sun, beach, and ice cold drinks. I'm really looking forward to that. Starting in Spain and making my way to Croatia via Italy and France. Basically all I have sorted out are tickets to Spain and flights back home from Croatia. I have an inter-rail ticket for everything in between and will be going wherever the wind takes me. Can't wait to be on the road with the camera again and getting lost in vast cities. By the end of it I'll probably have enough material for this space to last me a whole year.
Also I've got my accommodation sorted out for next year. I will be living with two of my current flatmates. We found this place that I absolutely love. Huge separate living room. Big kitchen. Double bedrooms with huge bay windows. It was THE perfect flat and at a really good price as well. So that's one less thing that I have to worry about. I move in right after term ends. Time to hit Ikea. I have decided that bean bags are a necessity.

South African Society Ball
Recently I was asked to photograph the South African Society Ball. I think I'm getting a bit more comfortable with taking pictures using flash. The secret is to use rear flash as to allow the ambient light to sort of mix with the artificial lighting you're introducing. Definitely have to experiment more around this.
On a side note, damn these people are good looking. I could have sworn that I've just walked right into the set of Gossip Girl.
